incisioni – linogravures – linocuts
The award Canadian magazine The Walrus published in June 2008 my serie of linoleum cuts, under the title of “Gnocchi di Bambini ” [ a mispell for “Giochi di bambini”]. Tony, the art director at the time, who commissioned me the work was Italian, which justified my Italian title choice, unaware than this June 2015, seven years later, my originals will be exhibited for the first time in… Italy!
The Walrus, Canada. June 2008
This linoleum series are inspired by my sketches books, I filled up over the years, of children playing in parks during summer times. I was only trying to distract myself mind from the brutal summer New York City heat. An observation of children interaction between other children and adults… pushing it toward the unevitable stretch of contrasting visions from the recent born to the soon dying . In a nut shell, the entire humanity delema condenced on one tiny little park. And how, anyway, this crow was coming from all the parts of the world it add some truth to my ever returning question on… life wander.
I was unaware, on day, I will return to similar parks, this time not alone but with my god daughter and her little sister, not as an observant anymore, as an active actor [ bearly trying keeping up with them] !
I cannot imagine better space than the Museo Etnografico ” C’era una volta” of Alessandria, Italy to host this serie. This museum carries a true spirit of the everyday human and family life, escaping any sense of industrialization , simple yet ingenoiuos objects made by the people for the people…

Windows to the Past
The ethnographic museum “Once upon a Time”, set up in the handsome spaces of the restored Gambarina in Alessandria, aims at keeping alive the specificity aquired in many years of activity developed in the homonymous museum in Valle San Bartolomeo [ a near by village]: on one side to keep and hand on customs and traditions of the folk, on the other side to organise temporary exhibitions and varrious initiatives to increase public opinion’s interest in this vast and little known cultural richness.
